Jewelry Care Guide
At ardorology, we believe in radical transparency. Our pieces are crafted to be high-quality, long-lasting, and tarnish-resistant, meaning they are designed to handle your daily life with ease. In the jewelry world, anyone telling you that plated or mixed-metal pieces will never tarnish under any circumstances is probably not telling you the whole truth.
We're data driven, and we're proud to say that out of the thousands of pieces we’ve sent out into the world, only 0.2% of our items have ever experienced a tarnishing issue. Nearly all of those rare cases came down to extended exposure to harsh elements, like hanging out in a chlorinated pool for too long. And all of those pieces were replaced.
Because we want your pieces to stay as brilliant as the day you unboxed them, here is the honest guide on how to love and look after your ardorology jewelry.
Water is Fine, But Chemicals Not So Much
- Water is totally okay: Washing your hands or getting caught in the rain won't hurt your pieces.
- The "Lotions & Potions" Rule: Perfumes, hairsprays, lotions, and heavy sunscreens contain chemical compounds that can accelerate wear on metal platings. Pro tip: Always apply your perfumes, body sprays, and lotions first, let them dry completely, and then put on your jewelry.
- Skip the Chlorine: While occasional water is fine, please take your pieces off before diving into chlorinated pools, hot tubs, or deep cleaning with harsh household chemicals.
Tuck Them Away: Safe Storage
When you aren’t wearing your pieces, give them a cozy home. Tucked safely inside your ardorology pouch or a lined jewelry box, they’ll be protected from moisture, humidity, and unnecessary friction with other metals.
Have questions about a specific piece or material? We’re always an email away! We want you to wear, love, and live in your jewelry, stress-free.
